Andrew Bucchin Founder of Grid Down® | Co-Founder of EMP Shield®
Andrew Bucchin is a leading figure in the EMP defense and preparedness industry. As founder of Grid Down® and co-founder of EMP Shield®, he has driven the growth and product innovation of two of the sector’s most recognized brands.
He has been solely responsible for EMP Shield’s commercial sales, generating more than $70 million in revenue and establishing what is among the highest volumes of commercial EMP-protection product sales in the world. Under his leadership in sales and marketing, EMP Shield has manufactured more than 250,000 units and now protects over $9 billion in infrastructure, equipment, and vehicles. Notable commercial deployments include protection for Casey’s General Stores along with a range of industrial and commercial clients.
Andrew originated the concept for EMP Shield’s vehicle protection line (including the EMP Shield MICRO) and assisted in their development. He created the Lightning Shield product line and personally designed EMP Shield’s new Faraday-bag line, EMP Shield Apocalypse®. Originally developed for Grid Down®, the Apocalypse® line was moved to EMP Shield® to reach a broader audience; before official sales began it had already generated more than 5,500 purchase requests in 4 months. He continues to guide product development across EMP Shield’s current and upcoming portfolio, including a new product line planned for 2027. These next-generation systems will offer both inline and offset protection models across every electrical type—DC, AC, and 3-phase—and are expected to surpass the performance of current offerings. They will undergo rigorous government testing to MIL-STD-188-125-1 and RS-105 standards, including full EMP exposure testing of a Grid Down energy storage system.
He personally built and continues to operate EMP Shield’s affiliate and reseller networks—more than 3,500 affiliates (one of the largest survival/prepper affiliate networks globally) and over 3,000 resellers worldwide.
