Yes, each hybrid inverter can have up to 3x batteries and batteries can be purchased separately and added to the redoubt to increase battery capacity. 

Example 1: For our 13.5kWh Redoubt, if you would like to upgrade the battery capacity, you can add 1-2 batteries (total of 3x batteries per hybrid inverter). If you purchased 2x batteries, you would now have a 40.5kWh Redoubt system. If you wanted even more battery capacity (and more hybrid inverter capacity) after upgrading to the 40.5 Redoubt system, you could upgrade by purchasing another 13.5-40.5kWh system (up to 6 batteries / 81kWh).

Example 2: For our 54kWh Redoubt system, if you need more battery capacity, you can purchase 1-2 more batteries (maximum of 3x batteries per hybrid inverter). If you purchased 2x batteries, you would now have an 81kWh Redoubt.

Yes, you can add additional hybrid inverter capacity to the Grid Down Redoubt up to 3x hybrid inverters (270 Amps combined output / 8-14K Watts per hybrid inverter).

Each hybrid inverter can have up to 3x batteries connected to it (total of 40.5kWh of battery capacity.
Grid Down does not sell the hybrid inverters individually. In order to add additional inverter capacity to your system, you will need to purchase (at a minimum) the Redoubt 13.5kWh system.

System combinations are as follows:
1x Hybrid Inverter / up to 3x Batteries
2x Hybrid Inverters / up to 6x Batteries
Maximum Capacity: 3x Hybrid Inverters / up to 6x Batteries (2x batteries per inverter).

Yes. Every Grid Down Redoubt system comes with EMP Shields to protect your home as well as the Redoubt energy storage system. 

Many types of panels will work with the Grid Down Redoubt however, we reccomend 400W Heliene residential solar panels or 398W residential Mission solar panels. 

The Grid Down Redoubt Hybrid Inverter accepts a DC solar input of up to 12,000 watts (4x PV Strings of 3,000 watts). 

Each additonal hybrid inverter doubles the solar input capacity. 

Example: The 54kWh Redoubt has 2x Hybrid Inverters. This means this system can accept 24,000 watts of solar input (8x PV Strings of 3,000 watts). 

The Grid Down Redoubt’s Hybrid Inverter cannot accept the AC energy from a solar system that uses micro inverters. Solar panels using micro inverters will need to have the micro inverters removed (if possible) prior to installing the PV strings to the Hybrid Inverter. If you have micro inverters and are considering the Grid Down Redoubt, be sure to consult with your orginal solar panel manufaturer to ensure removing the micro inverters won’t void any warranties.

The Grid Down Redoubt is an incredibly robust and versatile energy storage system capable of being used Off-Grid, Grid-Tied, or in combination. See below for a visual overview.

Off-Grid is when you are getting power from an alternate energy source like solar panels, wind power, generator, or hydro power. This alternate energy source can be used to charge the Redoubt energy storage system and power your home directly.

Grid-Tied

Grid-Tied is when you are getting power directly from the power grid. With the Grid Down Redoubt, the electrical grid can be used to charge the Redoubt energy storage system and also power your home directly.

Combination

A combination system is when you are connected to the grid and also getting power form an alternate energy source. With a combination system, you can charge the redoubt from both power sources and also power your home from both power sources.

EMP Shield is designed to exceed the US Military requirements for protection against a high-altitude nuclear detonation that results in an electromagnetic pulse.

EMP Shield products have been tested at Keystone Compliance, a DOD Certified Testing Laboratory, to verify compliance with the following Military Standards:

MIL-STD-461-RS105 Transient electromagnetic pulse of up to 50 kV/m, double exponential wave with a rise time in the nanosecond range, that is applied to the equipment under test (EUT) at least 5 times. We tested at 50 kV/m and also 90 kV/m (80% above required testing voltage).
